Wow, I can’t believe summer is almost here. There are so many fun things coming up at Dr Pepper Ballpark, and I can hardly wait. Just a few weeks ago we had an awesome time with the Frisco Miracle League, a national sports organization open to all special needs children. Daisy and I were at the ballpark cheering on all the kids as they played ball. We took tons of cool pictures. My good friends and ‘Riders players Thomas Berkery, Corey Ragsdale, Dan Touchet and John Bannister were there too. They got to be the pitchers, catchers and coaches, and they even signed autographs. My other pal Matt Stamm, the ‘Riders Emcee, was the game announcer. Deuce’s Diamonds and the entertainment crew joined us too, and we danced till we dropped. We did the YMCA, the Cha Cha Slide and other kinds of cool dances. There was also a hula hoop contest, a jump rope contest, and a game of tug’o’war. The whole day was so much fun. I can’t wait to see what else the summer brings. The ‘Riders have so many cool things planned, so stay tuned to find out more about the fun you can have with me and the ‘Riders this summer.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We don’t have any four leaf clovers at Dr Pepper Ballpark (or if we did the bunnies ate them all) but our field sure is GREEN! There are a lot of cool improvements coming to Dr Pepper Ballpark for the 2008 season that I’m really excited for you to see. The Rangers are coming to town on March 29 to play our beloved 'Riders. That will be an awesome game, but who do you cheer for? You can also see the Riders up close at our inaugural Riders Bowl on Monday, March 31 at Strikz in Frisco. To find out how you can bowl with the Riders, email my friend Mara at
msimonmeyer@ridersbaseball.com. I hope to see you there! Well that’s it for now, I hope your day is LUCKY!

Toys for Tots Toy Drive

What an AMAZING day at Dr Pepper Ballpark! Today Discount Tire along with the US Marines sponsored a toy drive for the 60th Annual Toys for Tots campaign. There were so many people that came and graciously offered toys that will be distributed to those less fortunate this holiday season. Our friends from Discount Tire were there and brought their NASCAR. The Marines were there and those men looked so sharp dressed in their uniforms. A HUGE salute goes out those men and women of the Unites States Marine Corps who offered their time to this event and continue to protect our freedom abroad. Some nice folks from 100.3 JACK FM were there and played… whatever music they wanted. Santa and Mrs. Claus showed back up and helped with the toys. Not to mention our old friend Ian Kinsler from the Texas Rangers who made an appearance. Fox 4 News covered the event throughout the day and I’m pretty sure I got on TV. When kids came by to donate toys, they also got to go into Dr Pepper Ballpark and run around the bases, watch a Christmas movie on RiderVision, and jump around in some bounce houses provided by All Around Amusements. Whew! What a spectacular day! I’m tired just remembering it.

Thank you again to everyone who made the Toy Drive possible. Great Work and now so many more children will have a very Merry Christmas.

Special Olympics Christmas Party

Tonight was very fun as some great folks from the Special Olympics, The Frisco Flyers, came by the ballpark and had a Christmas Party. The kids were just great and there were plenty of hugs to go around. No cotton candy was served, but we did have popcorn and Cracker Jacks. Santa, Mrs. Claus, an Elf, and Rudolph were all there too. Santa and I had a contest for biggest belly in Frisco and I won. He apparently has shed a few pounds working so hard on toys whereas I have slacked off on my daily walks around Dr Pepper Ballpark. Great fun was had by all and some RoughRiders gifts were given to the kids.

I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday

Ashley Elementary School

The wonderful faculty and staff at Ashley Elementary School in McKinney were so kind to invite me to be a part of their Christmas card this year. The card is being sent to everyone in the Frisco ISD. The theme is “Bring Your “A” Game!” I guess they knew that Deuce and the ‘Riders always bring their A game, and even though I don’t have to go to school I would probably make straight A’s. Thanks Ashley Elementary School, come see me anytime at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Happy Holidays!

Wow, Wow, and More Wow! That’s the only words to describe what an awesome Saturday I had at Frisco Merry Market and Frisco Merry Main Street. There were so many people to see and hug! I led some Christmas carols on Main Street, saw the pageant winners from Plano and Frisco, hung out with friends from Gattitown, signed autographs, and waved to passing traffic. At Frisco Square I saw a ton of my friends including the Mayor! The lights at Frisco Square were so cool and the Tree Lighting Ceremony was awe inspiring. If you haven’t heard half the City of Frisco sing We Wish You a Merry Christmas, then you have missed out my friend. There was lots of tasty food, but I didn’t see any cotton candy. There was so much love, it was a spectacular way to start the Christmas season. Hello to all the Riders fans that I saw. I added some pictures from the event to myspace. www.myspace.com/deucetheprairiedog I hope you enjoy and have a beautiful holiday season. Don’t forget to drop off an unwrapped toy this Friday December 7 at Dr Pepper Ballpark for the Toys for Tots Drive. I’ll see you there!

Oh WOW! I had so much fun at the Frisco Community Parade this weekend. There were so many neat people in the parade, and even more on the streets waving to us. I got to ride in a big Army truck and I was 5th in line. Everyone was wonderful. There were fans and kids yelling my name and I tried so hard to wave at everyone. The community really made me feel loved. I’d like to say hello to my friends and heroes from the Frisco Fire Department and Frisco Police Department. I also made a new friend named Rocky the Redhawk from Liberty Highschool. He and I had a dance contest while the Liberty drumline played. I would say it was a tie, right Rocky? I would also like to say hello to my new friends from the Centennial Titans Marching Band and the awesome ladies from the Wakeland High drill team. There were some little girls from the local Brownie Troop too that gave me the best hugs. I wish we could have just kept going around the parade route over and over again. You have to come next year! You can say hello to me during the offseason on my myspace page. www.myspace.com/deucetheprairiedog

Talk to you soon!

Hi! I’m back! I’ve been really busy with so many games. The ‘Riders are in FIRST PLACE! The last homestand was so exciting – we had a lot of home runs and high scoring games!

Did you hear that we how many ‘Riders players were named to the Texas League All-Star team? Metcalf, Mathis, Richardson, Webster, Benjamin, Duran and Hurley! Of course, if you’ve been watching the Rangers, you’ve seen Travis Metcalf playing for them! He won’t get to play in the All-Star game, but he’s playing in the big leagues!

Talk to you soon!

Hey everyone! I know it has been a long time since I have written in my diary. I just have been so busy the past few weeks – I have been doing so much. I want to say a special hi to my friends at Chavez Elementary and Boals Elementary – we had a great time last week, didn’t we?

Have you seen how good the team is doing? A winning record, big crowds, fun skits and me and my crew (of course)! Dr Pepper Ballpark has been a VERY exciting place to be lately.

I hope everyone has been able to stay dry with all the rain we’ve had the past few days!

Make sure you come out next week when the Riders are back home!

November 13, 2006

I have been so busy since baseball season ended! I have been all over the community visiting kids and attending events. Let me give you the scoop on some of what I’ve been up to…

On Friday, October 13th I paid a visit to Fisher Elementary in Frisco. The students and I did the “Cha Cha Slide” and I was able to participate in their morning assembly. It was a great way to start the weekend!

The students from Barksdale Elementary and I saw the sun come up on October 24th! The kids and I met up for the big “Walk to School” rally. The kids and I joined forces to celebrate Red Ribbon Week and rally against drugs! It was a really early morning, but it was worth getting up for. J

I trick-or-treated at GattiTown on Halloween! Pizza, candy and games – the best Halloween ever!

I want to say a special hello to Mr. Carter’s Class at Corbell Elementary in Frisco. Thank you for having me as your guest in your classroom. I enjoyed meeting all of you and enjoyed the story and dances we did together.

This past Saturday was extra special. I was able to participate in the Frisco Community Parade. The parade was so fun and it was cool to see so many people participating in the parade and supporting our troops and veterans on Veteran’s Day.

I look forward to seeing or talking to you all soon.

XOXOXOX

Gobble Gobble! Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday. Myself, I’ve been relaxing with my prairie dog relatives and watching football on the RiderVision and, of course, eating a ton. I skipped my usual meal of hot dogs and cotton candy for a more traditional Thanksgiving…it was turkey and pumpkin pie for me! I better stick with my hot dogs and cotton candy though…I need to keep up my figure for the season!

Happy Turkey Day!

Did everyone see me on TV last weekend? I am a TV star now! It’s been a busy few weeks and I’m about to get even busier. I am really excited about the season, not just the RoughRiders, but also when the Rangers play at our ballpark again. On March 30th, I’ll get to see my good friend Rangers Captain and my buddies Mark Teixeira, Hank Blalock, Kevin Millwood and some old ‘Riders players like Wes Littleton and CJ Wilson. It’s going to be great!

Make sure you stop by The Shops at Willow Bend on Saturday, February 24th. I’ll be attending the Collin County Youth Explore Sports event there. I’ll be there at noon, so come see me!

XOXOXOXO,
Deuce
